AWS Billing?
Welcome to another episode of keeping up with the cloud ☁️. Sit tight and enjoy the show.
Thanks for reading Keeping up with the cloud ☁. Please subscribe for free to receive all the latest gists happening in the cloud engineering track.
This episode might be long, but I assure you, it’ll be worth your time. Let’s begin with the AWS Wahala
1. While most of us were excited about our holiday assignment being marked, others were moving their things to the village due to AWS bills
Some were even convinced that we were already paying tuition to Jeff Bezos
Bro Benjamin hasn’t been able to sleep in peace, because AWS keeps sending him love letters that he doesn’t want to read
We were still trying to settle our billing issue, that’s how Mayowa dropped the bomb on us
Wahala wahala wahala (..in portable’s voice)
More complaints about AWS bills kept coming in, and it drew the attention of our program manager
2. It was exactly 11:23 AM on Tuesday, when the Jagaban of AltSchool (Uncle Jerry), dropped this message on the Cloud engineering group
We were all happy and excited that alas our cries have been heard, or so we thought. Let’s just say, Aladejana, Emmanuel (Aka Janor) was cooking something.
When you see something like this, you just know something hot is about to drop. Get ready, cos it’s about to go down!

He gained a lot of supporters in this cry as he spoke the mind of a faction of the cloud track, and trust that Uncle Jerry was calm about all he had to say.
Our instructor Chibuike (Kunrad) had some things to say to Janor.
Well, Janor and Kunrad went back and forth about if we were asked to submit a secret key or not, well, it turns out that they were both right
It was at this point, we got the fire extinguisher to quench the fire
Brother Emmanuel calmed down, and he dropped an apology for his actions
All’s well that ends well.
Uncle Jerry encouraged us to drop our issues and that the outburst was necessary (until Janor and Kunrad jam for street 🏃♀️🏃♀️)
3. E no end there sha. Seems like at some point Oga Val (another instructor) had to step in for kunrad in marking the assignment (it’s like he went to look for Janor)
Some people bill done pass $30 at this point. Oga Val sha stepped in and responded to Vivian.
Now, e be like Ifeoma dey cook something, check this out (Agba Cook🙌)
4. People never submit holiday challenge finish, Ifeoma again dey ask for deadline for new project 🙄
5. In other news, e be like our number done dey reduce for this cloud track oo. E be like some people done first us reach cloud nine
As of the time of writing this newsletter, we’re down to 551 on the cloud engineering track. (dey play, just dey play)
6. We still dey find Kunrad, abeg, if you see am, tell am say we need am 🤐
Parting Words…

A few weeks ago, a mentorship program was announced for individuals interested in Cloud engineering. Since it’s already way past the time to apply for it, you can look out for her new book. It promises to be dope as usual
